Dubai Opens the World’s Largest Shopping Mall
The World’s biggest shopping mall opened in Dubai in November 2008. Home to over 1,200 stores, the Dubai Mall has completely changed people’s shopping experiences.
As well as having 440,000 feet of fashion heaven home to most of the worlds top brands, the Mall also has a whole host of other leisure experiences, including:
- The Dubai Aquarium: Holding over 10 million litres of water, the Dubai Aquarium is a staggering 51m x 20m x 11m with its viewing panel coming in at 32.8m wide and 8.3m high. The aquarium will become home to over 33,000 living animals ranging over more than 85 species including over 400 sharks and rays. As well as being able to view the aquarium whilst walking through the Mall, visitors are able to walk through the aquarium and watch as the animals swim overhead.
- Dubai’s first Olympic-size Ice Rink: The name says it all! The Dubai Mall is home to Dubai’s first Olympic sized ice rink where people can watch ice hockey matches, learn to stake or just watch others take to the ice.
- KidZania: Think shopping malls are just for grown ups? Well think again; Dubai’s mall has its own area for children to play. Known as KidZania, children run their own city: they are free to live out their dreams by flying aeroplanes, driving buses, running restaurants or whatever their dream is through role playing! (KidZania is opening in mid 2009)
- Reel Cinemas: Home to 22 screens, Reel Cinemas is Dubai’s biggest multiplex. As well as showing the latest blockbusters, the complex will also put on local indie hits. (Reel Cinemas will be opening in mid 2009)
- Sega Republic: A Sega themed park? Too much? Not for Dubai! Sega Republic is the region’s first Sega indoor theme park designed to be mind altering and adrenalin pumping amazing. (Sega Republic will be opening in mid 2009)
